Malacca is the unofficial historical capital of Malaysia, serving as a link between east and west for over 500 years. It was here that colonial forces first made contact with Malaysia, which eventually shaped the country into its current economic and political system. Today, Malacca is a beautiful city that's rich with heritage buildings, ancient landmarks and colonial structures. Jalan Hang Jebat, or Jonker Walk, is a complete delight to walk through, as centuries-old shop-houses still stand proudly, selling anything from attractive antiques to one-of-a-kind local produce.
